       QUICK FACTS ABOUT  CELLULAR SHADES

Cellular shades (aka honeycomb shades or honeycomb blinds) are superb at both blocking excess light, as well as saving energy.

The unique structure of the honeycomb shade creates a barrier between the living area and the window which results in keeping rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer. These pleated shades are made from fabric which holds trapped air in “cells”. The cells are available in single, double and triple designs, and the more cells the higher the R-value.

Hunter Douglas was the first manufacturer to introduce honeycomb shades to consumers. Their Duette Honeycomb shades line debuted in 1985 and the rest of the industry quickly followed suit. Today, most window treatment manufacturers offer some type of cellular shade.
